Porvorim police have busted yet another IPL cricket betting racket and have arrested three accused. Equipment worth over Rs 2 lakh was also seized in the raid conducted during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday at a villa in Socorro.

The arrested are Vijay Kumar Manwani (45) and Sudesh Kumar Otwani (25), both from Madhya Pradesh, and Musa Shaikh (29) from West Bengal.

Police said that the trio was caught red-handed while accepting online and mobile phone bets during the IPL match between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

During the raid, police also seized seven mobile phones, a laptop, and other accessories, all collectively valued at Rs 2,10,000.

The operation was led by PSI Sanket Talkar under the supervision of Porvorim PI Rahul Parab.

This is the second such operation in Socorro this month. Last week, Porvorim police had arrested Gor Jigneshkumar Ashwinbhai (46) and Zala Kishankumar Jayantibhai (29), both from Gujarat — for a similar IPL betting racket. They were caught red-handed while accepting bets online and over mobile phones during an ongoing IPL match. In that raid, police had seized two mobile phones, one laptop, and other accessories worth approximately Rs 80,000.

So far this month, the Goa police have booked seven cases related to IPL betting.

, leading to the arrest of 47 individuals and the seizure of articles worth around Rs 47 lakh. Of the seven cases, four were registered by the Crime Branch, two by the Porvorim police, and one by the Calangute police. Police said that all those arrested in connection with these cases are from outside Goa.
