Filmmakers and other members of the film fraternity showed an avid interest in the Goa stall at the ongoing Bharat Pavilion and Exhibition, which is a part of the ongoing four-day World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES), which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday in Mumbai.

The most number of queries asked by the visitors to the Goa stall were about the ease of getting permissions for film shootings in the state.

Apart from film shootings, Goa is being also promoted as a wedding and tourism destination and for the other developments in the state.

The Directorate of Information and Publicity (DIP), along with the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), is heading the stall. Director, DIP, Deepak Bandekar, along with four officers, as well as the general manager of ESG, along with four officers, have been posted at the stall. The 100 square metre space at the Jio World Convention Centre serves as a place for direct interaction and discussion with the film fraternity.

“The state pavilion is also a space to promote Goa’s growing infrastructure and developmental works as well as to promote and encourage discussion, collaboration and innovation in entertainment industry.”

“It is also a space for B2B and B2C interactions directly with producers, filmmakers and visitors in general,” said an officer posted at the stall.

“We have received many enquiries from producers and filmmakers on how fast they can obtain clearances. They also asked if a single window system is in place and if there are any grants to encourage film shootings in the state,” said an official.

The recently framed Goa Regulation of Film Shooting Rules is one such state policy that is being pushed among the interested filmmakers as a means of a single window system.

Goa’s designation as a permanent venue for the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is also being promoted at the pavilion. Especially designed audio visual displays and virtual reality (VR) headsets that provide a tech savy experience of Goa also feature at the pavilion.

In addition to promoting Goa as a film and wedding destination, the stall is also supporting Goa’s rich tradition and culture, with a video promoting the state’s music and traditions. Goa’s cuisine, including ‘kadio bodio’, cashew and locally found food items, greeted visitors at the stall.
