Crime branch police has filed a chargesheet in the Rs 11.67 crore drugs seizure case against Goutham M and six others.

Four of the accused are absconding.

The matter will likely come up for hearing
on May 7.

Police said that the chargesheet has been filed before the District and Sessions Court, North Goa against Goutham, Shilna A, Shreejil P P, and four other accused persons who are absconding – Mushtafa Panikkarakath, Muhammad Rayees Keettukandy, Shahin K K and Taslim
Mohammad.

In March this year, crime branch had arrested Goutham (26), a native of Bengaluru and residing in Guirim, Mapusa. He was caught red-handed in possession of a transparent polythene packet containing dried greenish fruiting tops (buds) suspected to be hydroponic weed (ganja), weighing 11.672 kg, valued at Rs 11.67 crore, hidden in his rented room. The contraband was supposed to be sold in Goa.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that he was contacted by his friend Taslim, based in Bangkok, who offered Rs 1 lakh for delivering a drug consignment from Bangkok to India, police said.

Further disclosures led to the identification and arrest of Shilna, from Bengaluru. According to the police, she is a key member of the group operating from Bangkok and coordinates with local suppliers
in Bengaluru.

Police informed that financial investigation revealed Shreejil from Kannur, Kerala is a financial backbone of the gang and had booked international flight tickets for Goutham and other individuals suspected to be involved in the drug syndicate. Shreejil was also apprehended.
