MES College boosts student careers with competitive exam workshop

MES Vasant Joshi College of Arts & Commerce, Zuarinagar, recently organised a one-day workshop on ‘Awareness and Training on Competitive Exams’ in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Goa. The workshop was held for students of BA, BCOM, BCA, BBA, and MCOM programs.

The event was inaugurated by Hydrographic Surveyor, Government of Goa, Abhay Barve, who also conducted the first session on ‘Career Opportunities in the Armed Forces’. Barve highlighted the qualities needed to join the Army, Navy, and Air Force, explained various officer entry schemes, eligibility criteria, and provided an in-depth overview of the five-day Service Selection Board (SSB) interview process.

The second session was by educator Anish Kulkarni, who focused on UPSC exams—explaining their structure, syllabus, and preparation strategies. He emphasised essential skills like curiosity, reading habits, and listening, while outlining the benefits of joining the civil services.

Kundanlal Parganiha of Bodhi Academy conducted the third session, covering Central and State Government competitive exams including GPSC, bank exams (IBPS, SBI), Indian Railways, Income Tax, RBI, insurance, and SSC exams. He discussed syllabus, exam patterns, and problem-solving techniques, especially for quantitative sections.

In the final session, Parganiha addressed MBA entrance exams using case studies from companies like Amul and Swiggy to highlight the value of an MBA. He covered exam formats, interviews, group discussions, and listed top MBA colleges across India. The workshop was attended by 116 students.
