On Monday, the body of an unidentified woman was discovered on Monday morning, around 50 metres from the Ponda-Belagavi highway. Heavy rain had washed away most evidence, but a bus ticket found in the victim’s purse helped investigators

Sunday. An argument during the journey reportedly led them to deboard at Piliem-Dharbandora. The accused then allegedly took the woman into a nearby forest area, where he murdered her with a knife and fled.

Police registered a murder case and circulated the victim’s photograph along with available details, leading to her identification and subsequent arrest of the suspect
