NIRF college rankings: Dhempe’s at No 1 in Goa

GU figures in the 51-100 band; GIM bags 43rd rank

Panaji: In the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 announced by the Union Education Ministry,  Dempo Charities Trust’s Dhempe College of Arts and Science, Panaji, has secured the top position in the  general stream colleges in Goa as it is the only one to feature in the  151-200 band in the category.

Ponda Education Society Shri Ravi S Naik College of Arts and Science (Ponda), Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts & Science (Autonomous), Margao, and St Xavier’s College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Mapusa, were placed in the 201-300 rank band.

Established in 1962, Dhempe College has been re-accredited by the National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) in the year 2022 with ‘A’ Grade. It has adopted Quality Management System (QMS) as per ISO 9001:2015 International Standards and  has made several strides for improving the quality of education.

Goa University figured in the 51-100 band in the best state universities category. The university’s ranking had dropped from 101 in 2023 to a position within the 151-200 band in NIRF 2024. This year, it has improved substantially.

Altogether nine educational institutes from Goa have found place in the NIRF 2025 released by the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday.

A ranking methodology, NIRF  annually lists the top-performing universities, colleges and institutes in India. This is the 10th edition of the NIRF Rankings.

Goa Institute of Management (GIM) secured 43rd rank among the country’s top 100 management institutes with a score of 55.27, making it the only Goan institute in the top 50 in any category. Last year, in the NIRF 2024 rankings, the GIM was ranked 37th in the Management category, scoring 55.67 points.

Goa College of Pharmacy continued its presence among the top 100 pharmacy colleges, ranking 89th with a score of 42.70, while in the engineering category, National Institute of Technology Goa (Cuncolim) and Indian Institute of Technology Goa (Farmagudi) were placed in the 101-150 rank band.
