Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, during his visit to the Shree Partagali Jeevottam Math on Friday, credited the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math for elevating Goa’s spiritual growth and supporting the government’s efforts to promote spiritual tourism through its extensive infrastructure, which he said has created a significant spiritual attraction in the state.
With Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to unveil a 77-foot bronze statue of Lord Ram at the Math on November 28, Sawant chaired a meeting on the premises to oversee preparations. The Math is set to celebrate its 550th year from November 27 to December 7.
During the visit, Sawant offered prayers at Shri Veer Vitthal Mandir and Shri Ram Mandir and took blessings from Shree Vidyadheesh Teerth Swami, the pontiff of the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math before meeting senior government officials present at the site.
Sawant said that the Math’s infrastr-ucture has been developed with “a foresight of 500 years ahead in future”. He said Goa is set to “form a new chapter” with the Math’s anniversary and added that the institution had spent about Rs 170 crore on uplifting spiritual growth through its infrastructure.
He said the government is extending all support to the anniversary celebrations.
Speaking to the media, Sawant said that he had personally reviewed “the minute details of preparations from the government’s side”. “We will ensure that everything from traffic management, vehicle parking, free flow of traffic during peak hours and safety measures are taken care of,” said the Chief Minister.

Alok Kumar, South Goa Collector Egna Cleetus, South Goa SP Tikam Singh Verma and Canacona Deputy Collector Prataprao Gaunkar reviewed the preparations. Department heads informed the South Goa Collector of the deadlines by which they will complete the works under their charge.
