Sankhali: The post-mortem report of a woman found dead in a tempo in Bicholim has confirmed that she died due to suffocation. Following this, Bicholim police have registered a murder case against Ramesh Teli, who was staying with the woman.

The victim Laxmi Shirodkar, a resident of Matne, Dodamarg, Maharashtra, was found dead in a tempo parked near the old police station in Bicholim on December 26. Police had initially suspected foul play and taken Teli into custody for questioning.

Investigations revealed that Teli and Shirodkar had a history of disputes and physical altercations. On the day of the incident, they reportedly fought, and Teli allegedly assaulted Shirodkar, resulting in her suffocation. Based on the post-mortem findings, a murder case was registered.

Teli has been arrested and is scheduled to be produced before the court on December 28 for remand.

The accused has reportedly confessed to the crime. Bicholim police, led by Inspector Vijay Rane under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of  Police Shridevi, are continuing the investigation and gathering further evidence to build a strong case against Teli.
