St. Xavier’s tops best physique meet

Panaji: St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa emerged as overall champions at the Inter-Collegiate Best Physique Championship, organised by Goa University at Jubilee Hall, with the college claiming multiple podium finishes across weight categories.

Anurag Parab and Shalil Arolkar led the charge for St Xavier’s by winning gold and silver respectively in the up to 70 kg category, while Brendon Sawant added a bronze in the up to 65 kg division, underlining the college’s strong showing.

VM Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar finished runners-up in the overall standings, with P.G. Goa University taking third place. Guruprasad Ghadi of Dhempe College of Arts and Science, Miramar was crowned Goa University Shree for 2025–26.

In other results, Ashwet Pilankar of Goa College of Engineering won the up to 60 kg gold, while Guruprasad Ghadi topped the up to 65 kg category. Mrunal Desai of P.C.C.E College, Verna claimed the up to 75 kg title, and Sanjeev Revodkar of P.G. Goa University emerged champion in the up to 85 kg class. Marc Souza of V.M. Salgaocar College of Law secured gold in the above 85 kg category.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by chief guest Dr Sandesh Dessai, Librarian, Goa University, along with Balachandra B. Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports, Goa University.
