Arlem Cricket Club emerged victorious in the 44th Commonwealth Developers Nanda Lolayekar Trophy, defeating Margao Cricket Club by 26 runs in the final at Nirakar Ground, Dapot.
Electing to bat first, Arlem were reduced to 81 for 6, but crucial lower-order partnerships propelled them to a competitive 216 in 33.4 overs.
Rahul Mehta top-scored with 60 off 45 balls, adding 80 runs for the seventh wicket with Vikas Singh (47 off 40). Mehta then stitched a 55-run eighth-wicket stand with Parth Sahani (26 off 19), while Aryan Narvekar contributed 28, helping Arlem post a defendable
total.
For Margao, Deep Kasvankar took 3 for 32, supported by Kaushal Hattangadi (2/30) and Mohit Redlar (1/28). In reply, Margao fought hard but were bowled out for 190 in 32.4 overs. Sanath Nevagi top-scored with 52 off 31 balls, while Ayush Verlekar (32), Sagar Solanki (28) and Mohit Redkar (26) offered
resistance.
Arlem’s disciplined bowling ensured control in the final stages. Vikas Singh excelled with 3 for 40, earning the Man of the Match award, backed by Rahul Mehta (2/26) and Saurin Thakur (2/42).
Individual honours went to Deep Kasvankar (Margao CC) as Man of the Series, Prathamesh Gawas (Arlem CC) for Best Batsman, and Yash Prabhugaonkar (Sportsweek) for Best Bowler.
