Harsh Desai and Priyanshu Moliya struck centuries as Baroda reached 275 for 6 against Goa at stumps on the opening day of their CK Nayudu Trophy (U-23) Elite Group A match at the GCA ground, Sanguem, on Friday.
Baroda chose to bat first but were pushed on the back foot early when Chigurupati Venkata and Samarth Rane removed Nitya Pandya (9) and Dhruv Patel (4), reducing them to 18 for 2.
Desai and Moliya then took charge with a 196-run partnership that steadied the innings and shifted the momentum.
Desai anchored the recovery with a composed 125, while Moliya’s fluent 106 helped Baroda race to 214 for 2.
Goa found the breakthrough through Anuj Yadav, who dismissed Moliya caught and bowled. The wicket triggered a brief wobble as Baroda slipped from 214 for 2 to 253 for 6.
Anuj Yadav was the standout for Goa with 3 for 63, while Venkata, Rane and Yash Kasvankar picked up a wicket each. Dhruv Patel (12 not out) and Raj Limbani (10 not out) then guided Baroda safely to the close.
