They beat Sri Lanka 5–2, wrap up campaign with 12 points

Bangkok: India wrapped up their SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship 2026 campaign on a positive note, registering a 5–2 victory over Sri Lanka at the Hua Mak Indoor Stadium on Sunday to finish second in the standings.

India made a blistering start, taking the lead as early as the sixth minute when Sonali reacted quickest to a rebound inside the circle after Sri Lanka goalkeeper Ashani Panikkiyalage failed to hold on to an initial effort. The striker doubled the advantage a minute later, surging forward from midfield before unleashing a powerful right-footed shot that left the goalkeeper with no chance.

The pressure continued to mount, and Mithila Ramani made it 3–0 in the ninth minute, finishing off a slick passing move as India sliced through the Sri Lankan defence with ease. Sonali completed her hat-trick in the 16th minute, weaving past defenders before combining neatly with Ritika Singh and placing the ball calmly into the net.

Sri Lanka managed to pull one back in the 22nd minute through Shanu Paskaran, who found space to finish clinically. Gowry Surenthiran struck again in the 28th minute to reduce the deficit.

The contest was effectively settled in the 36th minute when Pooja Gupta scored from long range to restore India’s three-goal cushion.

The closing stages were comfortably managed by India, who saw out the match with confidence to sign off their campaign with a convincing victory.
