Pernem: The new hospital at Tuem will commence operations with 12 outpatient departments, and tenders worth Rs 11 core have been floated for equipment, Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar said on Sunday.

“When the word GMC link is specifically mentioned, all the facilities which are available at GMC will be provided. The government is serious about this,” Arolkar said, while addressing mediapersons.

He added that only the Chief Minister and the Health Minister are in a position to give clarity on what facilities the hospital will have.

The MLA said that the hospital will begin functioning with 12 OPDs and that all doctors required for these OPDs have already been intimated.

“Two tenders costing Rs 11 crore for equipment are already out. The mini operation theatre (OT) will start immediately while the major OT will start in three months,” Arolkar said.

When questioned about recruitment, the MLA said that, for the time being, staff from GMC will be posted at the hospital. He said that multitasking and housekeeping staff will be recruited under the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC).

“Orders of 35 people under GHRDC will be issued soon,” he said.

He also said that the file has already been approved for the appointment of doctors and advertisements will be issued for the recruitment of doctors, nurses and other staff.
