Benaulim: FC Goa turned patience into precision as two second-half strikes secured a 2-0 win over Churchill Brothers FC in a Goa Professional League clash at Benaulim SAG Ground, on Tuesday.

The first half was a cagey contest. Churchill Brothers showed early intent in the 15th minute when Kavya Katkar’s effort forced a sharp save from FC Goa goalkeeper Gairik Roy. FC Goa responded by controlling possession and probing the Churchill defence, but clear chances were scarce as both sides stayed compact. Asher Rodrigues and Scott Fernandes were booked for fouls, but the scoreboard remained goalless at halftime.

The second half brought the breakthrough. Churchill threatened early, only for Lionel Rymmei to make a composed stop. In the 68th minute, Ruel Goes collected the ball wide and unleashed a low strike from distance, slipping it inside the post to give FC Goa the lead.

With Churchill forced to push forward, FC Goa exploited the gaps effectively. In the 79th minute, Sangam Shetye doubled the lead with a long-range finish, putting the game beyond reach. Substitute Shawn Fernandes came close to adding a third in stoppage time, but his effort went over the bar.

FC Goa managed the final minutes with composure, maintaining possession and defensive solidity to secure a deserved 2-0 victory.
