They edge past Padre Conceicao College of Engineering 2-1 in inter-collegiate final

Margao: Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE), Fatorda emerged champions of the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Men’s Tennis Championship 2025–26 after edging past Padre Conceicao College of Engineering (PCCE), Verna 2–1 in a closely-contested final at the Fatorda Sports Complex.

In the final, DBCE drew first blood as Deion Pereira defeated Brullino Fernandes 6–1 in the first singles. PCCE hit back in the second singles with Punit Fadte outplaying Raoul Vas 6–1 to level the tie.

The title was decided in the doubles, where DBCE’s Raoul Vas and Ronald Fernandes held their nerve to beat Punit Fadte and Brullino Fernandes 6–3, sealing the championship.

Despite finishing on the losing side, Punit Fadte of PCCE was named the Best Player of the Tournament for his consistent performances. Earlier, PCCE Verna defeated Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Sanquelim 2–1 in the semi-finals, while DBCE Fatorda got the better of St Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim-Mormugao by an identical margin.

DBCE Fatorda were represented by Raoul Vas, Deion Braganca Pereira, Ronald Fernandes, Flynn Gomes and Dattaprasad Prabhu, accompanied by Clifford Britto.

PCCE Verna fielded Punit Fadte, Akshat Fadte, Brullino Fernandes, Varick Fernandes and Clint Mascarenhas, accompanied by Ugam Prabhudesai.

The prizes were presented by Devashish Bagchi and Elroy Pinto along with Balachandra Jadar
