The Mayem sabha on Sunday passed a resolution on the Poira mining issue, stating that villagers will not allow the company to resume operations unless their demands are fulfilled.

The resolution lists key demands, including the engagement of local trucks for ore transportation, employment for local youth, compensation to farmers for damage to fields and crops, and effective measures to curb dust pollution caused by mining activities.

The gram sabha was presided over by Mayem sarpanch Vishant Pednekar and attended by panch members, the panchayat secretary and villagers.

Vijay Pole alleged that the company was doing injustice to locals by hiring migrant labour and engaging trucks owned by outsiders. Former sarpanch Sakharam Pednekar said the company only gives
assurances.

Meanwhile, villagers on Monday launched a protest at the mining site in Poira, warning the company that agitation would follow if their demands are not met. The panchayat has also issued a show-cause notice to the company, asking why its no-objection certificate should not be cancelled. Sources said the panchayat also directed the company to halt mining operations.
