Aiming to reduce Soil-Transmitted Helminths (STH), combat anaemia and improve nutrition among children and adolescents, the state government will
administer deworming tablets to over three lakh children and adolescents through schools and anganwadis on National Deworming Day (NDD) on February 10.
“The NDD will be observed on February 10. All children aged 1-2 years will be administered the deworming tablet Albendazole 200 mg, while those in the 2-19 age group will be given Albendazole 400 mg during this round,” said Dr Utkarsh Betodkar, Chief Medical Officer in charge of the State Family Welfare Bureau.
Dr Betodkar said the mass administration drive is aimed at maximising effectiveness and reducing the spread of infections.
The Directorate of Health Services has requested parents, teachers and anganwadi workers to cooperate to ensure total coverage.
