Kerala: Goa have been set a challenging target of 364 runs for victory by Kerala in the Colonel C.K. Nayudu Elite Cricket Tournament match at the St. Xavier’s KCA Cricket Academy ground in Thiruvananthapuram, kerala on Sunday.
At stumps on the third day, Goa were 63 for three in 27 overs in their second innings and now require a further 301 runs to register an unlikely win.
Resuming from their overnight score of 37 for two, Kerala went on to add valuable runs before being bowled out for 279 in their second innings. Varun Nayanar led the charge with a fine century, scoring 109, while skipper Abijith Praveen provided solid support with 75. Jishnu also chipped in with 40 to take Kerala’s overall lead to 363 runs.
Goa’s bowling effort was anchored by Anuj Yadav, who returned impressive figures of five for 108 in 32.3 overs. Yash Kasvankar supported well with three wickets for 106, while Chigurupati Venkata was economical, finishing with two for 11.
In reply, Goa’s chase got off to a shaky start as they lost three wickets before the close of play. Viraj Naik made 15 before being dismissed, while Shardul Shet departed for three. Skipper Kasvankar contributed 22 but failed to see out the day.
Shaantanu Nevagi remained unbeaten on 21 at stumps, with nightwatchman Samarth Rane yet to score.
Earlier, Kerala had posted 255 in their first innings, with Goa replying with 171, conceding a first-innings lead of 84 runs. Goa face a stiff task on the final day, while Kerala will look to press for a decisive result.
