Water supply to large parts of South Goa was disrupted after a major distribution line was damaged during ongoing work for the Rawanfond
railway overbridge.
Sources from the Public Works Department (PWD) said that water supply has been disrupted due to the damage caused to the pipeline and that efforts are on to repair it at the earliest.
They added that supply is likely to be restored by Tuesday as it will take time for water to reach the distribution lines.
A large quantity of water was seen flowing onto the road after a major pipeline from the Salaulim water supply system burst on Monday morning while levelling of mud was being carried out using heavy earth-moving machinery.
As water gushed out of the damaged pipeline, efforts were made to stop the supply, and workers were seen till late evening attempting to repair the pipeline near the Rawanfond bridge.
