A brother-sister duo was injured after a two-wheeler hit a leopard on the Carapur-Sarvan highway in Bicholim taluka at around 11 pm on Friday. The incident has created fear among the residents of the area.

Sources said the siblings from Bicholim had gone to watch the Ghode Modni festival. While they were travelling on a two-wheeler towards Harvalem, their vehicle hit a leopard that was sitting on the highway. Both the rider and pillion rider got injured in the accident.

After the collision, the leopard remained lying on the road for some time but later ran towards the forest. The injured duo was first admitted to the Sankhali Health Centre and then shifted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim for further treatment. Forest officials said that both were later discharged after treatment.

Meanwhile, reports of leopard movement in the Kudne area of Bicholim taluka have been received over the past few days. Accordingly, the Forest Department has installed a cage trap there. Leopard movement has also been reported in the Radhanagar area, where a trap had been set up a few days
earlier.

A few months ago, another incident occurred where four people on a two-wheeler were injured after colliding with a leopard while it was crossing the road.
