A father and his son were found dead inside their house at Naiknagar in Bordem, Bicholim, on Monday evening, triggering a police investigation that continued late into the night.
Sources said Sanjay Mhapsekar and his son Sanchit were discovered in the same room of the house. Sanchit was found lying on a cot, while Sanjay was lying on the floor. People present at the scene said that Sanchit had an injury on his mouth and there was bleeding, while foam was allegedly seen around Sanjay’s mouth.
Sources said that Sanjay was widely known in the area as an active social worker and that a 12-page handwritten note written by him was found at the scene. As per sources, the note contained certain instructions and details. However, its complete contents have not yet been fully understood.
The incident came to light on Monday evening when Sanjay’s daughter returned home from work. On entering the house, she found both her father and brother lying motionless. She immediately called her maternal uncle and informed him about the situation, who rushed to the spot.
Bicholim police were subsequently informed about the incident. Medical staff of a108 ambulance service, which was also called, confirmed that both had already died. Police personnel then arrived and began their investigation.
After the forensic examination and completion of procedures, both bodies were sent late at night to Goa Medical College for post-mortem examination.
The post-mortem examinations of both bodies will be conducted on Tuesday.
Under the guidance of Bicholim Police Inspector Vijay Rane, a team of officers and personnel conducted the panchanama. Police also called a forensic team, which arrived at around 9.30 pm and carried out a detailed examination while collecting evidence related to the case.
Meanwhile, MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye expressed grief over the incident and said that the police are conducting a thorough investigation.
