Collectors of the three districts – South Goa, North Goa and Kushavati have partially modified their earlier order restricting
the sale of fuel in loose quantities, exempting fishermen and certain essential services.

In an addendum issued on Saturday, South Goa Collector Egna Cleetus, who also holds charge of Kushavati, and North Goa Collector Ankit Yadav, said that the restrictions will not apply to the sale and use of petrol and diesel for fishermen, fishing-related activities, fishing vessels and other navigating vessels. The exemption also covers educational institutions, diesel generator sets and other essential and bona fide services permitted by the competent authority.

The clarification comes a day after the district collectors imposed an immediate ban on the sale of petrol in loose quantities in cans, bottles and other containers at all retail fuel outlets across all the three districts.

The revised order aims to ensure that critical sectors and services are not affected while continuing to regulate the sale of fuel in loose quantities.
