Murphy, Swavel, Asmon, Mevan score in their 4-0 win
Vagator: Dempo SC sailed past Chapora Yuvak Sangh 4-0 in the GPL Super League at Vagator on Monday.
The breakthrough arrived in the 21st minute in fortuitous fashion. Murphy Fernandes whipped in a left-sided corner that curled directly into the net, with Chapora’s Rohan Kamble unable to prevent the ball from crossing the line despite a desperate attempt.
Dempo maintained control after the break and doubled their lead through a defensive lapse. Valanco Rodrigues sent in a teasing cross, and Chapora’s goalkeeper misjudged his attempt to claim it, spilling the ball into the path of Swavel Furtado, who calmly tapped into an unguarded net.
The visitors tightened their grip on the contest moments later. Jordan Borges played a short corner to Asmon Viegas, who showed composure at the edge of the box before lofting a precise effort into the far corner to make it 3-0.
Dempo rounded off a dominant outing with a fourth goal late on. Murphy Fernandes released Jordan Borges down the right, and despite slipping under pressure, Borges managed to unleash a powerful shot.
The goalkeeper parried the effort, but Mevan Dias reacted quickest, heading home the rebound to seal an emphatic victory.
At Duler Stadium, Clube De Salgaocar eased past Sesa FA 3-0.
Salgaocar’s Isac Zomuanpuia netted a brace while Joshua D’silva added the final nail in the coffin. With this win CD Salgaocar go to the top of the table with 42 points.
