Panaji: Navhind Publications finished runners-up in the Inter-Media Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament, going down to Prudent Media in a last-ball thriller at the SAG Ground, Campal.
Put in to bat in the four-over final, Navhind produced a competitive 45/3, built on a fluent 17 from Harshad and a quick 14 by Manish. The pair ensured a strong platform, setting up a challenging target in a high-pressure contest.
Prudent Media, however, held their composure in the chase. Despite Navhind’s efforts with the ball, including a disciplined approach in the field, the opposition edged past the target with a boundary off the final delivery.
Earlier, Navhind booked their place in the final with a win over Goa Varta in the semifinals, capping a consistent run through the tournament. The winning team comprised of Mahesh Gaonkar (C), Sushant Chimulkar, Soiru Velip, Harshad Sawant, Rohan Srivastava, Upendra Naik, Manish Parab, Sahil Naik and Amresh Parab.
