Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Wednesday inaugurated the After Completion of Treatment (ACT) Clinic at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, to support cancer survivors, especially children and young adults, as they transition to long-term health and well-being.

“Today, we take a compassionate step forward in cancer care—one that stands by patients even after treatment ends. The ACT Clinic was inaugurated, marking a dedicated effort to support cancer survivors—especially children and young adults—as they transition to long-term health and well-being,” Rane said.

The MoU for the initiative was signed between Dr J P Tiwari, Dean, GMC and Dr Anupama Borker, Professor and Head, Department of Medical Oncology, on behalf of GMC, with Dr Vandana Dhamankar, Director, Survivorship and Rehabilitation, Indian Cancer Society.

Rane said that the ACT Clinic will offer structured survivorship care plans, continuous monitoring, and holistic support, including psychological care, nutrition guidance, and lifestyle counselling, ensuring that recovery is not just medical, but truly life-affirming.

“With over 9,000 patients registered at GMC and nearly 7–8 per cent being young individuals with a high chance of cure, this
initiative is about safeguarding not just lives, but the many years that lie ahead,” Rane said.
