West Zone emerged champions in the All-India Zonal Veterans T20 Cricket Championship after defeating North Zone in a last-ball finish at Hyderabad.
Goa cricketers Sahil Dhuri, Prasad Patil, Basapa Madar and team manager Sanjay Naik, Joint Secretary of the Goa Veterans Cricket Association, were part of the victorious West Zone squad.
North Zone elected to bat but struggled and were bowled out for 149 in 18.5 overs. Amar Sonkar led the scoring with 34, while Ahmad Farooq contributed 25. Anup Fulper starred with the ball for West Zone, claiming 4 for 26. Basapa Madar picked up 2 for 35, while Prasad Patil returned economical figures of 2 for 18. Chasing 150, Shalabh Shrivastava anchored the innings with an unbeaten 56, while Sahil Dhuri’s brisk 38 laid the foundation for the chase.
North Zone bowlers kept the pressure, with Ajit and Umar taking two wickets apiece. Ahmad also picked twice to keep the match balanced. Needing runs off the final delivery with nine wickets down, West Zone kept their composure to complete the win.
