Diesel consumption in the state increased by 20 per cent from May 1-28, to 24,585 KL, from 21,169 KL, a period when prices of fuel were hiked four times. Diesel in the state is presently selling at Rs 95.83 per litre and petrol at
Rs 103.94 per litre, after total price hikes amounting to about Rs 7.5 per litre.
Public sector oil marketing companies on Friday disclosed that diesel retail sales recorded significant growth in Goa, with more demand in South Goa compared to the north district.
In the south district, diesel sales during May 1-28 was 9,255 KL, as against 7,754 KL, in the comparative period of the previous year, while the north district recorded sales of 15,330 KL, compared to 13,415 KL in 2025, showing a 14.27 per cent rise.
OMCs have said that Goa continues to receive uninterrupted supply of petrol, diesel and LPG and there is no shortage.
The increased demand is attributed to seasonal agricultural activities, shifting of customers to PSU retail outlets due to price differences, and migration of institutional and commercial consumers to retail fuel outlets.
There is adequate stock of fuel in the state, said OMCs, while advising citizens to continue normal purchasing behaviour and avoid panic buying.
