The monthly poets’ meet of Ugtem Molob was held recently in a warm literary atmosphere, bringing together poets, writers and lovers of Konkani literature.

The programme featured poetry recitations centred on the beauty of the monsoon, nature, environmental conservation and the growing concerns over the destruction of Goa’s natural and cultural heritage. The poems reflected the emotions, traditions and values deeply rooted in Goan life.

Among the prominent participants, Namdev Surlakar and several other poets presented their compositions, which were well received by the audience. The recitations highlighted the importance of protecting Goa’s environment while celebrating its rich literary and cultural traditions.

The gathering concluded with an interactive
session, during which
participants exchanged views on contemporary literary trends and the role of poetry in promoting social awareness and preserving Goa’s identity.

The monthly Ugtem Molob poets’ meet continues to provide a valuable platform for established and emerging poets to share their creative work and encourage the growth of Konkani literature.

Those present and recited their poetry were John Aguiar, Sunil Palkar, Chandrika Padgaonkar, Shital Salgaonkar, Hanumant Mauzo, Pushpa Nayak  Namdeo Surlakar  Savita Aguiar, Ana Ferreira, Nutan Dabolkar, Anthony Vaz, Gulab Vernekar, Shoba Fulkar, Jeetendra Fadte, and Erasmo Fernandes.
