Goa made a winning start to their Under-19 Inter-State One-Day Siechem Trophy campaign with a convincing six-wicket victory over Pondicherry at the Siechem CAP Ground 2 in Pondicherry on Tuesday.
Asked to chase 278, Goa reached 279 for four in 49.4 overs. Aradhya Goyal remained unbeaten on 67, while Mohit Yadav struck a brisk 59 off 36 balls. Earlier, Vinith Kamat made 56 and skipper Afridsab Rajakkanvar added 52 as the pair shared a 102-run stand for the second wicket to lay the foundation for the chase.
Earlier, Pondicherry were bowled out for 277 in 47.4 overs despite R Jiviteshan’s 71 and Donavan Wilson’s 54. Govind Sawal starred with the ball for Goa, claiming four wickets for 55 runs.
