Mandrem police arrested
a 37-year-old Palye resident and seized 194.11 grams of suspected hydroponic weed, estimated to be worth around Rs 3.88 lakh, during a narcotics
raid at Arambol on Thursday night.
Police said that acting on specific information, a team led by PSI Laximan Dessai, along with panch witnesses and other personnel, conducted a raid near the water tank at Arambol between 9.15 pm and 10.30 pm on July 31.
During the raid, police allegedly found Vishak Kumar in illegal possession of 194.11 grams of greenish-coloured fruiting and flowering tops suspected to be hydroponic weed (ganja).
Mandrem police registered a case under Section 20(b)(i)(A) of the NDPS Act, 1985.
The accused was arrested, and further investigation is being conducted by PSI Laximan Dessai.
Meanwhile, Canacona police arrested two persons for allegedly possessing white crystalline substances suspected to be MDMA at Charrasta, Canacona, on Wednesday.
Police said Sahil Kurdikar, a resident of Valkini Bhati, Sanguem, presently residing in Calangute, was found in possession of 1.9 grams of the suspected drug, worth around
Rs 19,000.
The second accused, Mohammed Zidan, a resident of Kasaragod, Kerala, presently residing in Saligao, was allegedly found with 1.5 grams of the suspected drug, worth around Rs 15,000. Both were allegedly found without valid documents.
