An additional government advocate submitted before the High Court that a report would be placed on record indicating the exact status of compliance of the works relating to the elevated corridor on National Highway 66 at Porvorim.
The advocate further submitted that the report would also include the status of compliance concerning all service roads connected to the stretches through which the elevated corridor passes.
The report will be accompanied by a preferably colour-coded map indicating the various roads referred to therein.
The High Court directed that the report be placed on record by September 21.
The High Court has been monitoring a public interest litigation filed by advocate Moses Pinto concerning severe traffic congestion, dust pollution, and safety issues arising from the construction of the six-lane Porvorim elevated corridor on NH-66.
Earlier, the High Court had directed the project contractor to sprinkle water at the construction site several times a day to control heavy dust pollution that was affecting visibility and posing health hazards. The court also ordered joint meetings involving the petitioner, officials of the Public Works Department (PWD), and the contractor to review directional signage, accident prevention measures, and traffic management arrangements to ensure the safe movement of vehicles during the construction period.
