Priol MLA Govind Gaude on Saturday said artificial intelligence (AI) would
not replace humans, but urged students to master the technology without becoming entirely dependent on it. He spoke about its applications across various sectors while cautioning against its blind use.

Gaude was speaking at the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan – Sankalp Manthan programme organised by the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (DITE&C) for the Salcete, Canacona, Quepem and Sanguem cluster at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.

“As an engineer and law maker myself, I’ve had the opportunity to look at technology with one question of what can be built and how it can be used. One technology that will influence every aspect of life is AI. It will not replace human intelligence, but people who know how to use AI may replace those who refuse to use it. Use AI, because it is already part of your life. As a student you are entering your career where AI is
developing fast and it will be an important tool. But there is a difference between using and thinking better,”
he said.

Gaude urged students not to use AI to avoid learning, but to learn faster and more deeply; not to curb creativity, but to expand it; and not to leave the final decision to AI, but to make room for human intelligence.

“Human intelligence cannot be replaced by AI. It was made by the human intelligence itself. Humans have the emotional quotient that is lacking in AI,” Gaude said.
