Chinchinim

Ambelim Sports Club advanced to the final of the 1st Cipriano Silva Memorial Cup with a narrow 2-1 win over Betalbatim Sporting Club at the Chinchinim Church ground on Tuesday.

Ambelim struck early, capitalising on a goalkeeping error in the third minute. A long-range shot by Blasco Fernandes was mishandled, and Garry Fernandes reacted quickly to slot home the rebound. They doubled their lead in the 16th minute when Desmond Fernandes powered in a header from an Arvind Fernandes corner.

Betalbatim fought back through Elroy Fernandes, who nodded in a free-kick from Dickson Rogtao to make it 2-1 before halftime. The second half saw Betalbatim dominate possession, but Ambelim’s defence remained resolute and denied any clear openings. Ozen Silva of Ambelim and Nayab Khan of Betalbatim received yellow cards during the match.

Klusner Pereira of Betalbatim impressed with his all-round play and was named Man of the Match. The award was presented by Jacinto D’Silva and  Benjamin Silva. Ozen Silva (Ambelim) and Nayab Khan (Betalbatim) received yellow cards during the match.
