One of the many reasons that has made international pop sensation Taylor Swift the icon that she is, is her unique ability to come up with music that gives a voice to those unsaid emotions within each person. Be it her fairytale-like romantic tunes like ‘Love Story’ and ‘Enchanted,’ to her edgier hits like ‘Shake it Off’ and ‘Look what you made me do’, her tunes manage to strike a chord with everyone.

And Sharvari Jadhav attests to that, “Taylor’s music feels personal yet universal. It’s something we all can connect with and find pieces of our stories in her song – whether it’s love, friendship, growth or heartbreak. For many of us, her songs have been the soundtrack to different chapters of our lives,” says the die-hard Swiftie, who founded the Pune Swiftie Club back in 2022. “It began as a fan initiative but with time turned into a proper fan club with meet-ups, events, listening sessions for new releases, live music nights, Taylor’s birthday celebration and themed parties,” shares Jadhav who is also the founder of Quanterra Events.

The club also began organising Swiftie-parties in 2023. “Being a huge Swiftie, it was always my dream to bring the Swiftie community together and celebrate Taylor’s music. It’s like a dream come true. Each event since then has become bigger and more creative,” says Jadhav.

In May this year, the club began a 15-city party tour titled ‘Cruel Summer Party’. Having already toured through cities like Jaipur, Udaipur, Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad, and Kochi, the party is now all set to touch the Goan shores on August 23, (4 to 8 p.m.) at Elrow Oceanfront, Calangute.

“The idea of ‘Cruel Summer Party’ is all about bringing the swifties from all the cities together celebrating Taylor’s music. We’ll have specially curated playlists covering all her eras, dance-offs and karaoke to everyone’s favourite track. As Taylor Swift has never been to India, we want Swifties to feel like they’re stepping into a Taylor-inspired world for the day,” says Jadhav, adding that they chose to title it ‘Cruel Summer’ since the edition kicked off in May and the song is a fan favourite anthem. “It felt instantly relatable for Swifties,” she says.

This is not the first time that the club is making a stopover in Goa. “We’ve held Taylor Swift-themed parties in Goa twice before and it proved that the fanbase isn’t just strong in metro cities but all across India,” says Jadhav, adding that she has in fact had requests from fans asking about forming a Swifties club in Goa. “It’s something we’d love to do. Our goal has always been to make Swifties feel connected no matter where they are, so local chapters are a natural step forward,” she says. “It’s amazing how the fandom is growing across the country.”

Going forward the club is now planning a collaboration with Crosswords for an event regarding Taylor Swift. “Also, as her new album is soon to be released in October, we’re planning a listening party of her new album ‘The Life of a Showgirl’,” shares Jadhav.

And while Taylor Swift herself has never toured India so far, Jadhav remains hopeful that it will happen. “Swifties in India have been eagerly waiting for Taylor to perform in India. There have been petitions, social media campaigns and countless trending hashtags,” she says. “We truly hope India is included in her next tour, because the love for her here is immense.”
