Final arguments on the bail application of three managers in the Arpora fire incident case were heard by the Mapusa district and additional sessions court.
The matter has been adjourned and fixed for orders on December 22. During the hearing, counsel for the victim, Adv Vishnu Joshi, filed an intervention application opposing bail. The application was allowed.
Final arguments on the bail plea of the three managers — Vivek Singh, Priyanshu Thakur and Rajveer Singhania — were concluded, with the prosecution strongly opposing bail. The state argued that the accused were managers assigned with different responsibilities and could not escape accountability by claiming that each was only one among several managers at the club.
The court was informed that the accused managers had not sustained any injury marks and that no attempt was made by them to save people trapped in the basement, despite being fully aware that there was no fire safety mechanism or proper ventilation.
Counsel for the accused sought bail, arguing that the grounds of arrest for all three accused were identical and terming the arrests as illegal. He further argued that his clients were not directly connected to the incident, stating that their roles were limited and that they were employees working under the directions of the employer, performing duties assigned to them.
Joshi filed the intervention application on behalf of victim Bhavana Joshi, who lost four members of her family in the incident, and argued in opposition to the bail plea.
After hearing all sides, the court adjourned the matter and reserved it for orders on December 22.
