Stating that Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy of bravery, justice, and self-rule inspires us all, BJP Goa
president Damodar Naik said on Wednesday said, “We must carry forward the values of this legendary warrior.”

A large number of Shiv Premis, waving saffron flags, participated in a grand rally on Wednesday to mark the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, widely celebrated as Shiv Jayanti.

The rally commenced from Rushirambh, Rakhandev, Gogol, and concluded at the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) Square, late in the evening.

As the procession reached the Housing Board area in Gogol, where a statue of Shivaji stands, several legislators and political leaders addressed the participants.

Goa Forward Party chief and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai said, “Goans have the capacity to march forward together. This Shiv Jayanti celebration has shown that, beyond politics, we need unity to progress.”

Curtorim MLA Aleixo
Reginaldo Lourenco urged attendees to remember Shivaji’s contributions, while Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar, Sharmad Raiturkar, and Yogiraj, son of Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, also participated in the event.

The rally culminated at MMC Square, where the municipal council organised programmes to commemorate the occasion.
