In a boost for digital connectivity in the state, eleven 4G mobile towers were set up in Assodem, Charvane, Cudcem, Melauli, Karaswada, Warchawada, Naneli, Morpila, Sancordem, Shirdode, and at Mantralaya, Porvorim, by the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), under the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF),of the centre.

The initiative aims at bringing 4G connectivity to villages. BSNL is the implementing agency of the project under the guidance of the DoT. As part of the project, BSNL, in collaboration with the department of information technology, electronics & communications (DITE&C) has identified 66 strategic locations across Goa to install new mobile towers.

The launch of the 11 mobile towers was by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, in the presence of the IT minister Rohan A Khaunte. “The 4G mobile towers will ensure seamless connectivity across the state towards a digitally inclusive and innovative Goa,” said Sawant.

“The launch of 11 4G BSNL mobile towers marks a significant step toward bridging the digital divide within the villages and enabling residents of Goa to benefit from high-speed mobile connectivity. This initiative reflects our commitment to empowering every Goan by harnessing the transformative potential of connectivity, innovation, and opportunity. The installation of 4G Mobile Towers is a vital pillar of Atmanirbhar Bharat, digitalization and connectivity,” pointed out Khaunte.
