The extended edition of ‘Swaramangesh Returns’, organised by Swastik Cultural Association, concluded recently at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Auditorium, Kala Academy, Panaji. The day-long festival featured performances by accomplished as well as emerging artists.
The morning session commenced with Hindustani classical vocal recital by Siddhartha Belmannu who performed ‘Raag Lalat’ followed by a bhajan. This was followed by a vocal performance by Dhananjay Hegde, who presented ‘Raag Bilaskhani Todi’ and a bhajan.
A ‘Thumri’ by Ayesha Mukherjee, accompanied by Subhash Fatarpekar on harmonium and Rushikesh Phadke on tabla was performed later.
The festival also featured ‘Santoor – Shehnai Jugalbandi’ by Bipul Kumar Ray and Lokesh Anand, accompanied by Indranil Mallick on tabla. They presented ‘Raag Multani’ and a composition.
A duet vocal performance by vocalists of the Banaras Gharana, Dr. Prabhakar Kashyap and Dr. Diwakar Kashyap presenting ‘Raag Maarubihaag’ followed by a composition in ‘Raag Adana’, a tappa and eventually a composition in ‘Raag Bhairavi’ concluded the musical fest.
The accompanying artists Ashis Sengupta, Amar Mopkar and Uday Kulkarni on tabla, Dattaraj Surlakar, Dattaraj Mhalshi, Malu Gaonkar on harmonium, Waseem Khan on sarangi and Manasi Walve and Hasti Gajjar added depth to the musical presentations.
