The third edition of the heritage evening, ‘Ek Sobit Sundar Saanz’, was recently held at Vivenda de Rebellos in Cuncolim, Salcete, to commemorate Opinion Poll Day and the feast of St. Joseph Vaz.

The MLA of Aldona, advocate Carlos Alvares Ferreira, was the special guest of the evening. Former Chief Justice of Allahabad, Dr. Justice Ferdino I. Rebello, was felicitated by advocate Ferreira, while environmentalist Rajendra Kerkar was recognised by Ibonio D’Souza, author and executive director of Goa Sudharop.

Professor at Dhempe College and leader of the Uzwaad Group, Sendra Pereira was honoured by headmaster of St. Xavier’s High School in Velim, Mario Morais for her contributions to the Goan community.

Ferreira stressed the importance of protecting Goa’s land, rivers, and identity for future generations, while Dr. Rebello expressed concerns over the increasing exodus of Goans, which could threaten the region’s heritage and culture.

The evening brought together notable figures from Goa’s art, heritage, music, academia, and legal fields. Performances by Team Uzwaad, P&P Academy, Pritesh Jagdish and team, advocate Shannon Sequeira, Frazer Andrade, Mohan Charu Bharadwaj (Bollywood fame), Selwyn Menezes, Aaron & Claren (trumpeteers), and Britto (a one-man band) entertained the guests.

Agriculturist Miguel Braganza, writer Dr. Edgar Menezes, and Fr. Joe Rodrigues, Parish Priest of Our Lady of Grace Church in Margao, were also present.
