Verna

Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda booked a place in the quarterfinals with a 1-0 victory over Raia Sporting Club in the inaugural match of the 2nd Late Fernando Abranches Memorial Trophy, organised by United Club of Verna at the Verna Village Panchayat ground on Monday.

In the first half Fatorda diplayed control in the midfield creating chances at the rival goal, but the Raia defense held firm to deny any breakthrough.

The decisive moment arrived in the 35th minute, when Hanslum Furtado found the net to break the deadlock. Raia SC pushed hard for an equaliser in the closing stages, with Patrick D’Souza coming close, only to see his effort from inside the box miss the target.

Don Bosco held firm till the final whistle to seal a 1-0 win.

Fatorda’s Hanslum Furtado was awarded the Man of the Match by Luis Vaz.
