‘Bright Beginnings Goa’ by Anisha Andrade creates handcrafted babywear and baptism essentials

KALYANI JHA | NT BUZZ

Every new parent knows the joy and challenges of welcoming a baby. Founded in 2020, Bright Beginnings Goa by Anisha Andrade, makes that journey easier with handcrafted newborn and toddler clothing and baptism essentials.

A former educator from Navelim, Andrade says her interest in designing grew from her upbringing. “My parents, Cipriano de Andrade and Fatima Fernandes believed learning went beyond academics. My mother loved stitching and would make newborn essentials whenever a baby was born in our family. I watched her closely and learned from her,” she shares.

While she learned the basics of stitching from her mother, her embroidery, patchwork and designs are all products of her own creativity. “I take inspiration from books, cut-outs and my observations, focusing on what appeals to children,” says Andrade, a B.Ed. graduate.

She credits her sister, Freeda Andrade, and husband, Noel Goes, for giving her the confidence to start the business.

Bright Beginnings’ products are made from pure cotton to keep babies comfortable and safe. “We offer plain and embroidered dresses and vests, printed outfits for special occasions, nappies, belly belts, swaddles and baby caps,” Andrade says, adding that they also sell sleeping mats in traditional and patchwork designs and are beginning to offer baby bedding sets.

The brand specialises in baptism items, including gowns, bonnets, mittens, socks, personalised shawls and towels, holy candles, scapulars, baskets and other ceremony essentials, all of which can be customised.

To ensure quality, Andrade follows a structured process. “I plan each order carefully. Cutting is done on one day, stitching on another, followed by customisation and final touches. This allows me to focus on every step,” she explains, adding that orders can be placed in person, online or by phone, with catalogues to help customers choose.  Their bestsellers include embroidered dresses and vests, patchwork quilts, sleeping mats, bedding sets, baptism kits and gift hampers. When it comes to delivery, timing depends on the order size. Large orders, such as the ‘All-you-need baby combo pack’, take about a month, while smaller orders or gift packages are delivered within a week.
