Ever since its release in 2025, ‘Mog Asum’ (Let There be Love) has been getting a lot of love. And the Konkani comedy-drama-family-fantasy film, directed by Agnelo Angelo Braganza and Radheshyam Pipalwa has continued its successful streak by winning Best Konkani Feature Film at the 72nd National Film Awards.
“Like any other creative person, I want my films to be appreciated. Thus, winning a national award is always satisfying and a testament that stories narrated with passion and authenticity can resonate on the national stage,” says Braganza.
Produced under the banner of Flowing Mandovi Films in association with RS Creations and starring Anjali Patil and Purab Kohli in lead roles, the film examines how people learn to move on with life
after heartbreak.
“The focus is not just on fantasy but on realism, how it affects characters, their frailties, their surroundings, and how they get sucked in due to the loss of loved ones not wanting to let go,” explains Braganza, adding that audiences are always appreciative that it’s a “different true-to-life emotional” film. In fact, he reveals, there have been people who have come up and told him that while everything from the story to the acting is good, the movie gets over too fast. “Now as a writer and director of the film, is it a compliment or a complaint?” he says chuckling. “In these times of fast social media, I have kept you inside a theatre for 100 minutes and they still want more?”
While the film has travelled with the Jagran Film Festival to various cities like Agra, Delhi, Mumbai, and even won the FIPRESCI International Critics award, Braganza is hopeful of taking the film to a few more film festivals this year. He has also not ruled out an OTT release.
“Winning a national award pulls a lot of audience,” he says. “I hope that this win helps the film and the Goan film fraternity as this award belongs to every Konkani filmmaker who strives and believes in the future of Konkani cinema.”
