Panaji: National president of the Bharatiya Janata Party Nitin Nabin on Friday arrived in Goa, on a two-day state visit, and he was given a rousing welcome in the city.  This is Nabin’s first visit to Goa after taking charge as the party’s national president. Nabin was received at Manohar international airport in Mopa by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and others.

The other leaders included BJP state president Damodar ‘Damu’ Naik, Union Minister Shripad Naik, Raya Sabha MP Sadanand Tanawade.

Soon after his arrival, the BJP national president went to the party’s state headquarters in Panaji. He was also accompanied by national general secretary of the party Tarun Chugh.

Later Nabin chaired a meeting of BJP MLAs and guided them on the 2027 state assembly elections.  He also had one-to-one interaction with party legislators.

At the meeting, some ministers and MLAs expressed their concern as regards recruitments in government jobs through the Goa Staff Selection Commission, and their inability to give jobs to the candidates from respective constituencies.

The BJP national president further held a meeting with members of the party’s state core committee to review organisational matters and political strategy.

The Chief Minister expressed strong confidence that the BJP will retain power in Goa after the 2027 assembly elections as also return to power at the Centre in the 2029 Lok Sabha polls.

He stated that the party’s prospects remain strong under the leadership of Nabin.

Later Naik said that Nabin provided guidance to the party, advising local party leaders to work together in the days ahead.

Nabin also visited the Mahalsa Narayani Temple at Verna in South Goa. In the latter half of the day, he interacted with party leaders from South Goa district at a meeting in Margao.

The BJP national president also held discussions with state office-bearers, presidents of party morchas, mandal in-charges and mandal general secretaries.

These meetings focused on strengthening the party’s organisational structure ahead of the assembly polls.

Nabin will address BJP booth presidents and mandal committees at the Karyakarta Sammelan at the community hall, Taleigao, on January 31.
