German national held with narcotics worth Rs 24 lakh

Panaji: The Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Goa police arrested a 45-year-old German national, Sebastian Hesler, and seized drugs worth around Rs 24 lakh during a raid on a rented premises at Vagator on Monday night.

Police seized narcotics such as LSD blot papers, ketamine powder, ketamine in liquid form and 2 kg of ganja, collectively valued at Rs 23.95 lakh.

Police sources said that the accused is a part-time disc jockey (DJ) playing in small clubs and is also allegedly into drug peddling activities.

Police said the accused was living in Goa on a tourist visa since November last year.

“Last month the ANC had arrested a West Bengal native, Agni Sengupta, for possession of MDMA and variable quantity of cocaine worth Rs 7.5 lakh,” said SP Tikam Singh Verma. Following this case, the ANC had clinched a lead on the German national.

The SP said that investigation into the case and subsequent collection of intelligence, the ANC managed to zero down on the German national.  

Police said that a week-long surveillance was maintained on the German. “Accordingly, on late Monday night, the raid was conducted at Vagator. He was found with 13 LSD blot papers, 10 grams of ketamine powder, approximately 406 grams of ketamine liquid and 2 kilograms of ganja,” said Singh.

The police also seized cash of Rs 35,000 in Indian currency and Euros.

The raid was by the ANC team led by PSI Dindayalnath Redkar under the supervision of PI Sajith Pillai and DySP Nerlon Albuquerque and SP Verma.
