The Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department has proposed a zoning change in the Regional Plan for Goa 2021, seeking to designate land measuring 1.03 lakh square metres at Cavelossim in Salcete as a no-development
zone (NDZ).
The move has been initiated under sub-section (1) of Section 39A of the Goa Town and Country Planning Act, 1974.
According to an official notification issued by Chief Town Planner Vertika Dagur, the land in question measures 1,03,875 square metres and falls under survey numbers 87, 88 and 92.
At present, the area comprises a mix of zoning categories, including portions classified as paddy fields, orchard land, mangroves and settlement zones. The proposed reclassification aims to restrict future development activities in the identified area, indicating a possible intent to preserve ecologically sensitive and agriculturally important land. The TCP Department has opened the proposal for public consultation and invited suggestions and objections from citizens and stakeholders. According to the notification, submissions must be made within 30 days from the
date of notification.
