Margao: Twenty-four fishermen were rescued in two separate incidents after their canoes capsized off Colva and Benaulim beaches on Tuesday, amid rough sea conditions along the state’s coastline.
The incidents occurred two days after another similar mishap was reported off Majorda-Betalbatim.
A coordinated rescue operation was carried out by Drishti Marine lifesavers, the Goa Police and jet ski operators.
According to Drishti Marine, the first incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when a fishing canoe carrying 15 fishermen overturned off Colva. Drishti Marine deployed jet skis and lifesavers and all 15 fishermen were brought to shore safely.
Around the same time, another fishing canoe carrying nine fishermen capsized off Benaulim beach.
