Panaji: The Foreigners’ Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Goa has deported 234 overstaying foreign nationals in the last five years out of which over 50% were from African countries.

As per government data, since 2020, foreign nationals from 31 countries have been deported. African countries account for 118 such individuals, with 69 of those deported being from Uganda, 25 from Nigeria, 10 from Kenya, 11 from Tanzania and one each from Sudan, Mauritius and Morocco.

Country-wise, Russian nationals follow Uganda, with 38 deported in the last five years, while 36 from Bangladesh were sent back.

During this period, police in the state booked 24 cases against house/guesthouse/hotel owners for their failure to submit the C-forms to FRRO within 24 hours after the arrival of foreigners on their premises as per Section 16 of Foreigner’s (amendment order 2016).

A senior police officer said district police maintain a regular watch on those providing accommodation to foreign nationals.

Since January 2025, FRRO Goa has conducted six joint drives with the help of local police.

As per information, the list of overstaying foreigners is generated/downloaded from the District Police Module (DPM) Portal following which it is circulated among the district SPs for appropriate action.

The data of Leave India Notice (LIN) issued by FRRO Mumbai to foreign nationals overstaying in Goa is shared with the district SPs in order to trace them and subsequently ensure their deportation.
