Water Resources Department’s Command Area Development Authority has proposed to delete land measuring 3.65 lakh sqm (36.53 hectares) from the Tillari irrigation project’s command area.

The Authority has further proposed to notify around 22.96 lakh sqm (292.96 hectares) of land in Pernem and Bicholim talukas as command area under the irrigation project.

Objections and suggestions, if any, to the proposals have been sought by the Command Area Development Board within 30 days from the publication of the notification in the official gazette.

The objections and suggestions may be submitted to Member Secretary, Command Area Development Board, at the office of the Superintending Engineer, Circle-II, Water Resources Department, Karaswada, Bardez, Goa.

The land proposed to be deleted from Tillari irrigation project’s command area is located in villages of Dhargal, Torsem (Pernem taluka), Calangute, Assagao, Anjuna, Parra, Revora (Bardez taluka), Latambarcem, Sarvan, Bicholim and Mayem (Bicholim taluka).

Following requests from affected landowners seeking exclusion of certain survey areas, the Command Area Development Board partially modified its earlier notification of November 25, 2024.

The area proposed for deletion includes 3,39,720 sqm in Dhargal and Torsem, 1,293 sqm in Calangute, 885 sqm in Parra, 4,587 sqm in Assagao, 3,346 sqm in Anjuna, 1,174 sqm in Revora, 5,000 sqm in Latambarsem, 1,663 sqm in Sarvan, 597 sqm in Bicholim and 5,000 sqm in Mayem.

The decision was taken at the fourth meeting held on January 7, 2026, wherein the Command Area Development Board approved the omission of these areas, subject to the applicants paying compensation at government-approved rate of Rs 105.70 per sqm within 30 days from the publication of the notification in the official gazette.

The land proposed to be notified as command area under the Tillari irrigation project is located in Pernem and Bicholim talukas, covering the villages of Mayem, Pernem, Corgao and Paliem.

The Command Area Development Board decided to include these additional areas to ensure more effective and comprehensive utilisation of irrigation potential under the project, states a notification issued. The area includes 8,55,935 sqm in Mayem, 3,29,954 sqm in Pernem, 15,14,130 sqm in Corgao and 2,29,658 sqm in Paliem.
