A man attacked three policemen with a knife outside Shri Dev Bodgeshwar Temple during the jatrotsav program on Wednesday evening. Two policemen sustained serious injuries.

The incident occurred around 5.30 pm during a Bharatanatyam performance for children. The accused, Ayush Naik, a resident of Calangute, disrupted the event before drawing a knife and charging at the children. When on-duty officers attempted to
intervene, Naik attacked them, injuring one officer on the hand, another on
the stomach, and a third on the chest.

Policemen stationed near the temple, along with locals, quickly apprehended Naik, who was allegedly aggressive and uncooperative. His hands and feet were tied, and he was brought to the police station.

The injured officers, Sharad Halgi (Calangute Police Station), Ritesh Mahale (Anjuna Police Station), and Vithal Naroji (Panaji Police Station), were initially treated at the District Hospital before being transferred to Goa Medical College for further care.

Mapusa police have registered an offence against Naik and are continuing their investigation into the incident.
