Stating that laws cannot be withdrawn by a “blame game”, Fatorda MLA and Goa Forward Party president Vijai Sardesai on Monday said that he has tabled in the House a Bill pertaining to the withdrawal of Section 39A of the TCP Act and other land-related matters.

Sardesai was speaking to media persons at Azad Maidan, where St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar was on an indefinite hunger strike demanding the withdrawal of Section 39A of the TCP Act, a provision allowing change in land-use zones.

Sardesai did not join the protesters who marched to TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane’s residence in Dona Paula demanding that Section 39A be scrapped. He said he had come in solidarity but was against the idea of going to someone’s residence. He said he has no objection if protests are held at the TCP office, the department or even the Secretariat.

Referring to the ‘Enough is Enough’ movement, Sardesai said, “We are here to safeguard Goa. We cannot withdraw laws by blame game. Justice Ferdino Rebello has given us the Bill under ‘enough is enough’ movement. As per the movement, apart from withdrawing Section 39A (TCP Act), there are other matters pertaining to land,” Sardesai said.
